9. Marvel Comics, No. 1

The fact that the first issue of Marvel Comics is an immensely valuable issue should come as no surprise, since Marvel Comics is one of the most well-known comics of all time. This October issue featured characters such as The Human Torch, Submariner, and Masked Raider. Since this first issue, Marvel Comics has featured many superheroes including Spiderman, The Hulk, Wolverine, and Iron Man. 5. All-American Comics, No. 16

The 16th issue of All-American Comics marked the initial appearance of the well-known comic book character The Green Lantern. The Green Lantern was the result of a collaboration of Bill Finger, the inventor of Batman, and artist Martin Nodell. All-American Comics, No. 16 ranks fifth on the list of top 10 most expensive comic books in the world, and valued at $936,223.

4. Detective Comics, No. 1

3. Amazing Fantasy, No. 15

This August 1960′s 15th issue of Amazing Fantasy marked the debut of Spiderman. The comic book series was scheduled for cancellation, but when Marvel received high reviews and sales went skyrocketing, The Amazing Spiderman was released as a full-time comic series. 2. Detective Comics, No. 27

Detective Comics, issue number 27, is where Batman made his debut appearance. The comic was released in May of 1939, where it was sold for only 10 cents. Batman was originally referred to as “The Bat-Man”, and is known in the comic book world as “the world’s greatest detective”. Today, this issue is now valued at $1.38 million. And it ranks second on the list of top most expensive comic books in the world.

1. Action Comics, No. 1

Action Comics made its debut to the world in June of 1938. This comic book series was the first to introduce the famous superhero Superman. Before this first issue, comic books were not very popular, and there wasn’t even such a thing as a “superhero”. Superman is often recognized as the first American comic book superhero, and is still one of the most popular superheroes to date.
